Our Story
Thirty years. Same room. Same fire.
Nirvana opened in 1995 in a low-slung building on Dashwood Crescent that was standing long before Cyclone Tracy came through. It’s still here. So are we.
What started as a Thai kitchen in a city with few like it grew into something a little harder to define — part restaurant, part live music room, part late-night bar.
Our menu starts with Thailand, then travels through Malaysia and the wider South East, bringing together bold flavours, plenty of character and no apologies for the chilli.
Three Decades Of Darwin
The room has a story of its own. Eclectic, comfortable and worn in all the right places, with booths to settle into and al fresco tables made for Darwin’s dry season.
Tuesdays are Jam Night. Friday and Saturday nights bring live music from 8pm. And just next door, Smoke & Oak keeps the night going with whisky, cocktails and a mood all of its own.
For three decades, Darwin has gathered here — for first dates, farewells, celebrations, last nights before the wet and welcome-homes.
